Stories for Lively Lives

Everand is a subscription service with millions of ebooks, audio books,
articles and podcasts. They wanted to show up for the casual reader—people
who may not have time to read for hours, but love stories all the same.

Banning Book Snobbery

The land of literature is full of unwritten rules. What counts as a
‘real’ book. Which genres are worthy of our time.
How many
things you should read in a month. But all of this pressure takes
away from the reasons we read in the first place.

If we wanted to reach a different kind of audience,
we needed a distinct perspective. We crafted a narrative and
no-nonsense voice that did away with expectation and rules,
reminding people that the best books can’t be found on a
best seller’s list, they’re simply the ones you like.

The voice was anchored in the persona The Liberated Reader,
someone tired of being told how, when and what to read.
Instead, choosing to do things their way using a relatable
candidness, wry sense of humour and outspoken attitude to
rally audiences.

Tone at scale

The voice needed to work as hard in the smallest of
brand moments as it did in the largest. So we put it
to the test across formats.
